Elisha · The Successor Prophet of Elijah
اليسع
Al-Yasa' (Elisha) is a prophet of the children of Israel, cited in the Quran among the chosen alongside Isma'il and Dhul-Kifl. He is, according to tradition, the successor of the prophet Ilyas (Elijah), continuing his mission among his people.
The Quran mentions Al-Yasa' with honour, without detailing his life. It counts him among the chosen prophets and presents him as an example to believers.
Tradition reports that he took over from Ilyas to guide the children of Israel, calling his people back to the worship of God alone and combating the persistent idolatry. For lack of a developed Quranic narrative, the essential that can be affirmed with certainty is his quality as a prophet and his place among the best servants of God.
Al-Yasa' reminds us that the chain of prophets is unbroken: in every generation, God raises up those who continue the call to truth. The continuity of faith is worth more than the brilliance of a single voice.
