Student of Ibn Abbas — an eminent scholar who was killed for standing against injustice.
Sa'id ibn Jubayr was a freed slave and student of the great commentator Ibn 'Abbas. He mastered the Quran, jurisprudence and commentary until he became a reference for the people of several regions.
He participated in opposing the tyranny of al-Hajjaj ibn Yusuf al-Thaqafi, the unjust governor, who then ordered his execution.
The combination of solid knowledge and courage in the face of injustice is the most outstanding thing remembered of him.
