The Truthful · Raised to a High Station
Idris is one of the earliest prophets after Adam. The Quran describes him as a man of truth and patience, and reports that God raised him to a high station.
Tradition reports that Idris was among the first to transmit knowledge through writing, and that he taught people arts useful to their lives.
The Quran emphasises above all his uprightness and patience, and the honour God bestowed on him by raising him to a high station. It is through his faith and constancy, not his knowledge alone, that he was distinguished.
Idris teaches that knowledge and progress only have value when placed in the service of truth and the elevation of the soul towards God.
